To rescue a horse is to give them a second chance—but in their eyes, you’ve given them the whole world
Greeno Equine Sanctuary was founded out of a lifelong love for animals, inspired by Jerry "Greeno" Green, who dedicated his life to rescuing and rehabilitating those in need. After his passing in 2020, his legacy continued when Chad and Tish took in two of his elderly rescue horses, Hammer and Veda. That same year, they welcomed Koko and Jaci- two bonded horses with a heartbreaking past. Koko, who arrived with a harness and barbed wire embedded in her skin, was deeply fearful of humans—until she found comfort in Ethan (Tish & Chads son), refusing to leave his side. Their story solidified our mission: to provide a lifelong, safe haven for equine who cannot be adopted through traditional means.
Officially becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2022, Greeno has grown from 20 to 30 acres, with access to an additional 40+ acres of grazing land. Today, over 20 horses call the sanctuary home, where they can live free from fear, abandonment, and neglect for the rest of their lives. Through compassion, care, and advocacy, we are committed to giving these incredible animals the second chance they deserve.
